Suggestions for optimizing your web viewing
Your monitor settings
WallinStudios.com is designed for a monitor with minimum 800x600 resolution, set to thousands (or more) of colors. If your monitor is set at a lower resolution (such as 640x480), sections of the site will require scrolling both horizontally and vertically. If your monitor is only showing 16 or 256 colors, many of the images will "dither." This means they will be reduced to the number of colors currently available on your computer (color depth), making the images appear at a significantly lower quality. To see the artworks here, and on other web sites as well, as well as you can on your computer monitor, simply increase the number of colors available to your computer. Here are some tips on how to improve your image viewing by increasing your resolution and color depth:
Windows XP:
1. Click on the "Start" button, hover over "Settings", then click on "Control
Panel"
2. Click on "Display".
3. Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the window.
4. Use the sliding bar beneath "Screen Area" to increase your monitor
resolution to 800X600 or more.
5. To increase your computer's color depth, click on the drop down list
beneath "Colors," and choose "High Color" or "True Color."
Macintosh:
1. Click on the apple in the upper left corner of your screen 2. Click on the "System Preferences" control panel.
3. Click on "Displays" icon .
4. Choose one of the options beneath "Resolution" that is 800X600 or greater. You can try different resolutions to see which you prefer.
5. To increase your computer's color depth, select one of the options underneath "Colors" that is greater than 256.
6. Then if your color still can use improving click on the "color" button top center. Click on the "calibrate" button and follow the instructions.
AOL Users:
If you are viewing WallinStudios.com with an AOL browser, we suggest that you upgrade to the most recent version. AOL browsers automatically compress images, making them appear at a significantly lower quality. To fully experience the beauty of the art works, follow these simple instructions:
1. Turn off image compression 2. If you are browsing with AOL 3.0 and 4.0 versions that use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, go to the top toolbar and select "My AOL" or "Members," click on "Preferences," and then choose "WWW." Click on the "Web Graphics" tab, and uncheck the checkbox labeled "Use Compressed Graphics."
3. Empty your image cache
4. Browsers often store previously viewed images in a "cache." Unfortunately, the cache contains files that have been compressed and are of lower quality. To optimally view images on WallinStudios.com, it's a good idea to remove these files.
5. With an AOL browser, choose "Preferences" from the "My AOL" or "Members" menu. Click on the "WWW" icon in the left-hand menu, and then click on the button labeled "Empty Cache Now."
6. If you have problems viewing WallinStudios.com using an AOL browser, please use the AOL Keyword "HELP" or contact AOL Help at 1-888-265-8006.
